Digital Engineering : PSA Peugeot Citroën chooses CATIA as its principal drafting solution

Paris, January 28, 1999--PSA Peugeot Citroën has chosen CATIA, developed by IBM / Dassault Systèmes, as its core modeling solution. As a key component in digital engineering, the modeling software allows users to design parts and sub-assemblies for future vehicles in their actual environment and generates the digital model. PSA Peugeot Citroën will invest FF 665 million (more than 100 million euro) over three years in the PSA Peugeot Citroën Digital Engineering project (known in French as INGENUM), which will speed the design of new vehicles.

Within the framework of the new platform organization introduced a year ago, platform 1 (small cars) will be the first to benefit from CATIA’s deployment. Eventually, the software will support all new projects, with enhancements stemming from the joint work of PSA Peugeot Citroën’s digital engineering teams and IBM/Dassault Systèmes. In a long term, more than 2000 of the group’s CAD-CAM stations will use CATIA.
