COSMA acquires VAB to expand Stamping Capacity in Eastern Europe

Cosma International, an operating unit of Magna International Inc. and a leading automotive metal-forming supplier, today announced it has acquired Vyroba Automotivnych Blotnikov (VAB) of Tychy, Poland. The acquisition expands Cosma’s class-A and body structure stamping capacity and increases the company’s presence in the growing Eastern European market.

The VAB facility, located adjacent to a current Cosma assembly facility called Formpol, adds approximately 150,000 square feet of space to Cosma’s manufacturing footprint. The facilities will work together to provide global OEM customers with best-in-class body, chassis and module solutions.

“The addition of VAB is part of Cosma’s strategic expansion in our key customer markets,” commented Horst Prelog, president of Cosma. “We welcome them to the growing Cosma family.”

Cosma manufactures a comprehensive range of metal body systems, components, assemblies and modules including complete vehicle frames, chassis systems, and body-in-white systems using a variety of innovative processes including hydroforming, stamping, and rollforming. Cosma has more than 17,000 employees in 37 manufacturing facilities and 12 product development and engineering centers located in 13 countries worldwide.
